Rensselaer County Executive Endorses Malpass for U.S. Senate

Press Release: 9/9/10

New York- September 9, 2010...U.S. Senate candidate David R. Malpass (R-NY), a nationally-recognized fiscal conservative and a former Reagan-Bush 41 Treasury and State Department official today announced that he has been endorsed by Rensselaer County Executive Kathy Jimino. Mr. Malpass recently received endorsements from Rudy Giuliani, the New York Post, Oneida County Executive Tony Picente and Cayuga Republican Chairwoman Cherl Heary.

Mr. Malpass, 54, is a nationally renowned economist and an established expert on the federal budget and tax policy. While serving Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush, he worked on an array of pro-growth issues, including the 1986 tax cut, the Roth IRA and fast-track trade authority. He has a distinguished career in economic research and writes regularly for Forbes and the Wall Street Journal.

"I'm thrilled to support David as the clear choice to send to Washington on behalf of New York taxpayers," said County Executive Jimino. "As a local county executive, I understand how the reckless spending and unfunded mandates being passed down from Washington hurts our communities. David will be a senator who puts New Yorkers before special interests."

"I'm honored to have the support of County Executive Jimino, who has set a powerful example of what it means to govern efficiently and effectively. Her leadership in Rensselaer County should be a model for counties across New York State. As senator, I look forward to partnering with her to help make New York more affordable again."

Planned Parenthood Advocates of New York endorses Tom DiNapoli for NYS Comptroller

PRESS RELEASE: 8/20/10

“Today, Planned Parenthood Advocates of New York is proud to endorse Tom DiNapoli. He is an unwavering advocate for the women and families of New York State who rely on access to affordable, comprehensive reproductive health care, especially among the growing number of uninsured,” said PPANY Board Chair Joan Malin. “For more than two decades, Tom DiNapoli served as a prochoice Member of the Assembly and carried his support for reproductive health and rights into his work as the state’s fiscal watchdog.”

In the Assembly, DiNapoli championed women’s reproductive health by supporting the Clinic Access Bill, Women’s Health and Wellness Act and Emergency Contraception in the ER for rape victims. Additionally, he has been a staunch supporter of making comprehensive, medically accurate, age-appropriate sex education more broadly available to New York’s youth.

“During this unprecedented budget crisis, Comptroller DiNapoli has demonstrated an independent and strong commitment to fiscal reform by placing an emphasis on the health of nonprofits and the need to streamline government contracting,” said PPANY President and CEO M. Tracey Brooks. “New York’s women and families need a state comptroller who understands the importance of timely access to critical state funds for safety net health care providers like Planned Parenthood so they can keep their doors open.”

"I am truly honored to receive the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Advocates of New York," said Comptroller DiNapoli. "As Comptroller, as well as in my two decades of service in the Assembly, I have been an advocate for policies that protect the health and well-being of women in New York. I share the values for which the leaders and membership of Planned Parenthood Advocates of New York stand: preserving and advancing reproductive health care and justice for all women and families. I am proud to stand with this organization as they now stand by me as their first endorsed candidate for statewide office in 2010."

Planned Parenthood Advocates of New York State is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of the Planned Parenthoods of New York State.
