Rensselaer County Executive Endorses Malpass for U.S. Senate

Press Release: 9/9/10

New York- September 9, 2010...U.S. Senate candidate David R. Malpass (R-NY), a nationally-recognized fiscal conservative and a former Reagan-Bush 41 Treasury and State Department official today announced that he has been endorsed by Rensselaer County Executive Kathy Jimino. Mr. Malpass recently received endorsements from Rudy Giuliani, the New York Post, Oneida County Executive Tony Picente and Cayuga Republican Chairwoman Cherl Heary.

Mr. Malpass, 54, is a nationally renowned economist and an established expert on the federal budget and tax policy. While serving Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush, he worked on an array of pro-growth issues, including the 1986 tax cut, the Roth IRA and fast-track trade authority. He has a distinguished career in economic research and writes regularly for Forbes and the Wall Street Journal.

"I'm thrilled to support David as the clear choice to send to Washington on behalf of New York taxpayers," said County Executive Jimino. "As a local county executive, I understand how the reckless spending and unfunded mandates being passed down from Washington hurts our communities. David will be a senator who puts New Yorkers before special interests."

"I'm honored to have the support of County Executive Jimino, who has set a powerful example of what it means to govern efficiently and effectively. Her leadership in Rensselaer County should be a model for counties across New York State. As senator, I look forward to partnering with her to help make New York more affordable again."
